The I AM WHO?course has its roots in the author’s experience, Janice S. Neilson, over thirty years of working with orphans, displaced and vulnerable children in ten countries. While the lessons learned from this broad experience were adapted to the situation in rural China, the fundamental psychosocial needs of all children are universal. The program is designed to build hope in children, while improving their confidence and self-esteem. While creating their own books, children learn about resilience, so that they are better able to cope with hardships in their lives. The I AM WHO? Program is endorsed by UNICEF. Janice and Scott Nielsen are long-time part-time residents of Los Cabos. They chose this area as the first location in Mexico to share their course. LIGA MAC Programs Director, Blanca Roblero, and LIGA MAC Executive Director, Elva Haro were trained by Nielson and her team last summer on how to lead this course.
