Christmas Choir

Every year, on the first Tuesday of December, Liga MAC’s Volunteers organize a community event called Christmas Fiesta. The event is to celebrate the spirit og giving and takes place at The Shoppes at Palmilla. A group of Liga MAC’s students become the ambassadors of the night by singing Christmas Carols. Thanks to probono collaboration of Maestro Mario Lozano, a local professional musician and singer, a selected group of 18 students out of the 328 that we have under our wing this year, are having this fabuluois experience that otherwise they could not have. Being part of the choir gives them the chance to express themselves through singing, they gain self-confidence and also increase their general knowledge.

Self-Esteem & Social Skills Workshop

We mentor and follow-up our kids along their way through a variety of activities that supplement their preparation for life, such as the self-esteem & social skills workshop. The workshop is designed for 7th & 8th graders, and is taught at Liga MAC’s Support Center. The Purpose of the workshop is to strengthen each of the concepts of self-esteem through games and dynamics, – I recognize myself, I accept myself and I respect myself -. They also learn and practice coexistence and human values basic rules to be able to relate with others. Fifty students out of the 328 that we have under our wing this year are taking this workshop.

New 501 (c) 3

Dear Liga MAC Friends & Supporters,

We are very excited to let you know that LIGA MAC will be transitioning our U.S. donors to a new 501c3 charity for the purposes of issuing U.S. tax receipts for donations to Liga MAC.

The Baja Community Foundation is a 501(c) 3 registered in the state of Washington and with the US Internal Revenue Service. This charitable foundation supports LIGA MAC and will allow us to maximize your donation by eliminating service fees. This means that we will be able to use 100% of your donation towards helping our students achieve their goals.

Donations by US citizens are 100% tax deductible. The Baja Community Foundation is supported by many volunteers. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Bill Cornelius for making this possible.

Donating to Liga MAC through BCF is very easy! Just click HERE

For Canadian donors and Mexican donors, we are already able to provide service charge free tax receipts. Click here to see those options.

Thank you for your continuous support,

Elva Haro
Executive Director

Summer Newsletter

WE PREPARED OUR KIDS TO BE READY TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL

This Summer we were very busy working on our annual registration process. The 2018-2019 school year ended, and in view of the new 2019-2020 cycle, we have reviewed the 300+ files of the students that we supported during the last 12 months. In addition, we screened 263 new candidates. Don’t miss the STATUS REPORT section to see more details on our Educational Support Program.

As a result of the process, in early July we accepted 328 kids which received the package of vouchers for mandatory uniforms, shoes, school supplies and tuition fees. By now, all the kids under our wing, have started the new school year ready and motivated.

Thanks to your support, these kids have the chance to move forward one more step in their life.

Sincerely,

All of us at Liga MAC.

STATUS REPORT
We graduated 69 students from high-school, and 7 more obtained a B.S. Degree! See Full Report Here
