I was born in La Paz Baja California Sur. I am a trial attorney with a master’s degree in criminal law and founder partner of the law firm “Romero Gomez Legal Advisor S. de R. L. de C.V. established in San José del Cabo B.C.S. I belong to the first generation of young professionals that Liga MAC graduated in the year of 2011, after supporting me and my family since 8th grade. I know from personal experience the meaning to wish for an education and progress and to be able to get it thanks to the help of good people. I am now a witness of all the hard work behind the support that I have received. I am proud to be now in the position to give back, so new generations have the same opportunity that I had.
Susan Cornelius is from Seattle, Washington. She received her BS and MS degrees in nursing. She practiced for almost 40 years as a Nurse Practitioner. Susan has served on many boards in many areas, such as health education, adolescent foundations, boards of condominiums and now Liga MAC. She has supported education at all levels, from preschool to the graduate level at universities. Education is the key to more informed decision-making and, therefore a knowledge-driven life.
Hailing from Victoria, BC, Pat and her husband Byron arrived in Los Cabos in February 1990 for a one week vacation. In the intervening 30 years, they have been involved in several San Jose businesses, built a home, and become charter members of Querencia Golf Community. Pat has been actively involved in several local charities including Liga MAC, A.C. and her interests in addition to volunteering include golf, kayaking, hiking, travel, and reading. She is looking forward to working with Liga MAC’s outstanding group of Board members!
From Mexico City Julián Pontón arrived in Los Cabos 15 years ago. Entrepreneur who has created businesses as his digital marketing agency, clothing brand for women and vacation rental businesses. Altruistic to diverse causes like dog care shelters and activities for children in various communities in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. He was invited 2 years ago to participate as a member of the Board of Directors for Liga MAC.
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Dr. Poli was born to Argentinian parents, and was brought up in a bilingual, bicultural home since birth and was raised between Mexico and Canada. She began her professional studies at the University of British Columbia in BC, Canada, where she completed a Bachelors Degree in Biology, she continued her education at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, where she study medicine. Currently she works as a general pratitioner and in wound care management in Los Cabos. She was invited 4 years ago to participate as a member of the Advisory Board for Liga MAC and as of 3 years ago she is a member of the Board of Directors, using her background to help with activities and ideas to improve the biopsychosocial life of the children in our program thru education.
Maria is a recently retired senior executive (Fortune 25 company) who has been vacationing in SJD for 20+ years. Maria hails from Calgary, Alberta and has been a life long volunteer involved with various non-profit organizations in a wide variety of roles. She joined Liga MAC in January 2018 and participated in the ESL program as a classroom facilitator. As volunteer chair, her goal is to ensure all Liga MAC volunteers are well informed, engaged and organized to enable their hearts & minds to deliver maximum impact in support of our kids and their families.
Karen is a Certified Private Accountant. She is a dynamic and efficient lady in charge to manage our Educational Support Program by working together with school social workers and officers to enroll qualified students in our program. She coordinates everything related to the support that we provide to students, including the organization of the various courses and workshops offered to them.
Consuelo first joined Liga MAC as a volunteer in January, 2016. She is bilingual and has a degree in Architecture. Her previous professional experience in education and health services help her to follow-up our students by carrying out ongoing social work services available to them and their families, making sure that they are well-nourished physically, emotionally and mentally and stay healthy.
Born in Canada, I grew up with a passion for food and began cooking and studying culinary arts at the age of 15. I migrated to San Jose los Cabos in 1998 later to naturalize as a Mexican Citizen on October 26th, 2006 and currently hold dual citizenship. Over the years have established myself as an accomplished, versatile and results-driven professional in the restaurant industry as well as a leader in the community. My experience as a chef and restaurateur has helped me refine my skills in leadership and staff management, property management, maintenance as well as proficiency while dealing with government and legal issues.
